There are 6. Common opinion is they slide after 3. IMO still worth a buy.

I completely forgot films were even made for this  series. I had a few issues of the manga but never got into it at the time.  Both the manga and films are gorgeous looking.

You ever see the Samurai Trilogy ?  I might have to buy these again since it looks like they finally restored them. The old DVD set I have is terrible quality.

I haven’t read the manga. To be honest, until a week ago I hadn’t heard of them, or the movies. A co-worker was telling me that his dad used to have the manga. He started to describe the story and I said “Wait, that sounds like a Bob’s Burgers episode ” He doesn’t watch Bob’s. It didn’t take much digging to realize I needed to see it.

I haven’t seen the Samurai Trilogy. I think I should.

Definitely check ou t that trilogy. IFC did a marathon of it one night years ago and kept me up way too late on a workday.

That kickstarted my interest in the genre and immediately made Toshiro Mifune one of my favorite actors.

Oh man, now I can’t stop looking at the Criterion site. Dreaming of much deeper pockets. What would it cost to buy enough movies to last the rest of your life? I mean, new releases would still take some time and there might be an odd time you watch Netflix.

They have more than 1000 movies listed. At an average of say $30, would $7k do it? Because I think I see 250 I’d like buy today. I need to win the lottery. :-)x

Coulda sworn my copy of The General was Criterion but it’s Kino. Must be rights issues. Those are good copies but Criterion always has fantastic artwork. Worth their price just for that.
